VECTOR Boeing 787-9 in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

VECTOR has published a major development update for its Boeing 787-9 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The Alpha phase is complete, the aircraft is now in internal Beta testing, and the team says release is less than three months away.

VECTOR’s approach is to recreate systems “at schematic level”: not just what a system does, but how it actually works and interacts with everything else. Even display loading times are meant to match the real aircraft.

What’s inside:

  • electrical, hydraulic and fuel systems, weather radar, TCAS and the Airport Moving Map are all working;
  • a built-in Boeing EFB (the pilots’ electronic flight bag) with 53 pages, recreated from technical documentation;
  • a separate VPAD tablet with SimBrief, Navigraph and LIDO charts from MSFS, so no extra subscription is required;
  • both engine options, GEnx-1B and Trent 1000, each with its own flight model and sound;
  • a three-class cabin (based on United’s) plus a cabin-free version for better performance;
  • over 400 sound recordings from real aircraft.

Price and availability: pricing and an exact release date haven’t been announced yet, and there’s no word on Xbox or PS5. The team expects to reach Content Complete (all planned content in place) next week, followed by external Beta testing and a video teaser. The 787-10 and 787-8 will follow the 787-9.

Who it’s for: simmers who love deep systems and long-haul flights on VATSIM or IVAO. The 787 is becoming a competitive field in MSFS 2024, so we’re looking forward to the first impressions after release.
