VEKTARO adds real flights from the past: nearly 4,000 flights since 1975
Today VEKTARO gets its biggest update in weeks. We’ve added nearly 4,000 real flights to and from Ukrainian airports between 1975 and 2021, taken from archived timetables. Every flight comes with its real number, days of operation, departure time, aircraft type and registration.
That means you can now fly what actually flew: Air Ukraine’s Il-62 to New York, AeroSvit’s Boeing 767 to Bangkok, or UIA’s first Boeing 737s to Amsterdam.
What’s new:
- route pages now list the real flights on that route, year by year, for example Kyiv to New York or Kyiv to Amsterdam;
- a SimBrief button opens your flight plan with the airline, flight number, airports and aircraft type already filled in;
- there are now 88 airline pages, with new ones including AeroSvit, Air Ukraine, Malév and Interflug;
- airport and aircraft pages show where flights went from Ukraine and on which types, for example Boryspil, Lviv or the Boeing 737-800;
- the destination finder has a “Flight from the past” mode that suggests a random real flight matching your filters (years, airport, aircraft, flight time), plus 20 similar ones.
The live map has also been polished: aircraft now move smoothly, and callsigns appear when you zoom in.
One more thing: VEKTARO now has its own Discord. New articles from the site are posted there automatically, and it is a place to find someone to fly with, join group flights and share screenshots. The new series has its own #рейс-з-минулого channel: fly a historical route and show us how it went.
Give it a try: open Flight from the past and keep asking for another one until you find a flight you like. Every week we’ll also tell the story of one of these flights in our new “Flight from the past” series. The first one, Kyiv to New York on the Il-62 in 1998, is already on the site.
